"We've been here once before, years ago, and they didn't have anything gluten reduced for me to drink, including wine, seltzer or cider.
We were hoping it would be different this time since we ran across a canned Saison by them a year or so ago at a bottle shop in Durham.
Initially we were told they didn't have anything for me. But upon further discussion, one of the people we were speaking with remembered that one of their tap beers was a collaboration with another brewery in Burlington and Clarex was used as the clarifier. So that beer was actually gluten reduced, but just wasn't advertised as such.
The name on this one was pretty funny (Oprah, Barbara Walters, something, something, something...), but it was a stout, which I was more than happy to try.
The nose on it was exceptional and the beer itself was very smooth and had a good flavor profile. Not too sweet, but bold. They didn't have it canned, but we were able to take it with us in growlers. So we took 2 of those home.
I was told they are working on some more smaller batch beers that they plan to use the Clarex clarifier in, which will make them gluten free, or gluten reduced if that's your preferrred language. I'm excited to see what they come out with next that I can drink, and I just hope it's a Saison or Sour and not another bloody IPA."
