The Naples Hotel, a local landmark with over a century of history, began as Lyon Tavern in 1818, a stop-over for travelers between Canandaigua and Bath. Initially a simple two-story wooden structure, it was expanded over the years by Simeon Lyon, hosting soldiers training under George Washington. In 1854, James Kearney purchased it, later sold to Carlton Jaqua in 1863, who managed it for 30 years, renaming it Jaqua House. In 1893, Jeff Brown acquired the property, replacing the wooden tavern with the current brick structure in 1895. The original garden and park are now business blocks in Naples.
